Login.gov is a shared federal service that allows for users (both federal and private) to maintain fewer passwords and learn fewer interfaces. It requires two-factor authentication as well as strong passwords that meet new NIST requirements. Federal agencies, in an effort led by the General Services Administration, are combining over 10 disparate databases of procurement, past performance, and vendor information into a cohesive portal with one interface, a single sign-on, better security, and enhanced search functionality.
